Good morning BBN!

As football season is quickly approaching, this offseason for college football and basketball has just gotten a whole new wild twist to it. After a ruling by a judge in Colorado that says players who are eligible for the 5-for-5 rule the NCAA has adopted, a plethora of options across all the sports have suddenly become eligible.

Now, while players can not have signed pro contracts, only time will tell who will become eligible, but at the moment it is the Wild West once again to try and fill out rosters.

For football, the biggest name tossed around has been Alex Afari. After going to mini-camp with the Green Bay Packers, if Afari returned to Lexington, he would immediately boost the linebacker room, which could really use some experience.

However, Mark Pope and his staff have the biggest new wave of players with this ruling. With one open roster spot, the staff seems to be casting a wide net to see who could be an option to add to the roster. That has led to the BBN tossing around a ton of names, with some being contacted by the staff. Including Keyshawn Hall, Jackson Kohler, and Mark Mitchell, it appears Mark Pope and his staff may be big-game hunting two months before the season.

But will they be eligible? That is the major question.

College sports have changed so much over the last four years, and this is just the latest example. Who would have thought this many solid players would be available come August?

Time to see how this madness shakes out and if the Cats add anyone from it.
