Ozor, who recently joined the Katsina-based club, reportedly collapsed during a pre-season friendly against Niger Tornadoes FC at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina on Tuesday.

He was initially reported dead after suffering a medical emergency during the match, prompting Katsina United to announce his death and mourn his passing.

However, a fresh development emerged on Tuesday evening when grassroots sports journalist Prince CJ reported that Ozor showed signs of movement while at the mortuary.

“Reliable sources say Chinedu Ozor has been moved from the mortuary to the hospital after reportedly showing signs of movement. He is currently on oxygen as medics work to revive him,” Prince CJ said in a video shared on Facebook.

He also appealed for prayers for the footballer, saying: “Ozor, we believe in the God for a second chance. May God restore your life and grant you complete recovery.”

Earlier, Katsina United had confirmed that Ozor died following a medical emergency during the friendly against Niger Tornadoes.

The club expressed condolences to his family and loved ones, describing the incident as a tragedy.

“We mourn the tragic passing of our newly signed player, Ozoh Chinedu, following a medical emergency during today’s friendly match against Niger Tornadoes FC,” the club said.

The latest development has, however, raised fresh hopes for the footballer’s survival, although there was no immediate official confirmation from Katsina United or the hospital regarding his current condition.
