Kansas baseball, OU super regional game Sunday delayed due to weather

LAWRENCE — kansas-baseball-play-oklahoma-124037266.html">Kansas baseball’s NCAA super regional game Sunday against Oklahoma will not start at 5 p.m. (CT), as originally scheduled.

According to a social media post by Kansas baseball on X at 4:21 p.m. (CT) on Sunday, the game will not start on time due to weather. First pitch is now to be determined, with updates to come. The game is set to take place at Hoglund Ballpark in Lawrence, and it is the second game of a best-of-three series that began Saturday and could run through Monday.

Oklahoma (37-22) won the opener Saturday, 8-1, dominating KU with power offensively and a pair of quality pitching performances. With that win, the Sooners have ensured that if they can win Sunday they will advance to the College World Series. Kansas (45-17) needs to win both Sunday and Monday if it’s going to do the same.

KU reached this point by winning the Lawrence Regional, while Oklahoma took the title at the Atlanta Regional. Kansas also came in having won the Big 12 Conference regular season and tournament titles. Oklahoma is representing the Southeastern Conference, but not too long ago was a member of the Big 12 with KU.

Kansas’ game against Oklahoma is now under a lightning delay, according to an announcement made at the stadium. The game was already delayed due to weather, after previously being scheduled to start at 5 p.m. (CT). So, the time for first pitch remains to be determined.
