Kano anti-corruption boss resigns

· · 1 min read

The Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Saidu Yahaya, has reportedly submitted to mounting pressure and resigned his appointment.

Yahaya’s resignation followed mounting pressure from the Kano State Government over his alleged failure to perform to expectations.

However, neither Yahaya nor the Kano State Government has publicly confirmed the development as of the time of filing this report.

Yahaya was appointed chairman of the PCACC in August 2025, following the expiration of the tenure of the former chairman, Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado. He was approved by the Kano State House of Assembly for a five-year tenure.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had, in recent months, publicly criticised the chairman over what he described as non-performance as the head of the anti-graft agency.

A source indicated that Yahaya’s alleged failure to perform beyond expectations might not be unconnected to his antecedents as a federal anti-corruption staff member rather than a politician.
