Kai Trump and Miami kicker Jake Weinberg are friends, but they are not dating, according to a report from TMZ.

The report, published Monday, cited a representative for Trump, President Donald Trump’s granddaughter. Speculation had spread online after the two were reportedly seen at the same Palm Beach restaurant. Trump is a freshman on Miami’s women’s golf team, while Weinberg transferred to the Hurricanes after playing at Florida State.

The clarification links two people whose paths cross at the same university, but the most concrete update in the story may be Weinberg’s work on the field. He has been a steady part of Miami’s unbeaten season, making all 43 of his extra-point attempts and seven of eight field goals, according to TMZ.

Weinberg has been reliable in a key role

Weinberg’s perfect record on extra points has helped Miami convert its scoring chances. He has also made all but one of his field-goal attempts, giving the Hurricanes consistency from a position that can decide close games.

The redshirt sophomore arrived at Miami after two seasons at Florida State. He started all 12 games for the Seminoles in 2025, making 12 of 19 field goals and all 46 extra points, according to his Miami roster bio. The transfer has carried that experience into a strong first season with the Hurricanes.

Trump is beginning her Miami golf career

Trump joined Miami’s women’s golf program for the 2026-27 season. The school announced her addition alongside two other incoming players, and its roster lists her as a freshman from Stuart, Florida.

The relationship report is a brief off-field story involving two students from different Miami teams. TMZ’s account says the pair are friends and attributes the denial to Trump’s representative. Neither the report nor Miami has announced any change to their status with their respective teams.

For Miami, Weinberg’s production is the part that directly shows up on the scoreboard. The kicker has been dependable through the first part of the season as the Hurricanes continue their push through the schedule.
