Juventus are already doubting Nick Woltemade and have started lining up alternatives for next summer, just over a month after his arrival.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the striker’s viral miss for Germany against Serbia has only deepened concerns in Turin. With half an hour left in Munich, he sent the ball over from two yards out with the goal gaping, which set off a wave of criticism in the German press.
Luciano Spalletti had hoped Jürgen Klopp’s new Germany set-up would send him back rejuvenated. Instead, Woltemade has played little and has yet to score.

Juventus eye Retegui, Balogun and Raimondo
Signed late in the window on a straight loan from Newcastle, Woltemade sees himself as more of a second striker than an out-and-out No 9. Despite standing 1.98m tall, he has admitted aerial duels aren’t his strength. Juventus already have plenty of players who can operate behind the striker, and the loan is expected to end in June as planned.
Giovanni Carnevali is therefore weighing up three options. One is Mateo Retegui, the former Atalanta striker now at Al-Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia, and another is Monaco’s ex-Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun. The third is Antonio Raimondo, who has four league goals this season on loan at Frosinone from Bologna.
