Justin Allgaier, sixth on the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series all-time wins list, says he has no plans to chase the drivers ahead of him.
The 40-year-old has 34 wins in 536 starts. Mark Martin is second on the list with 49. Kyle Busch holds the record with 102.
Allgaier told motorsports journalist Steven Taranto that he is not chasing a win total or a spot on the list. He said he is 15 wins away from Martin.
“He’s at 49, and I’d have to get another 54 to get to Kyle Busch after that,” Allgaier said. “That’s a lot. I will not be here that long, I can assure you that.”
Now that Justin Allgaier is racing in the O’Reilly Series for a few more years, I asked about him moving up the series’ all-time wins list and if getting into the Top 5 – and even as high as second all-time (held by Mark Martin at 49 wins) is the next frontier for him.

‘I Wanted to Win One’
Allgaier also looked back at what he wanted when he started his career. A single win was the goal.
“You know, it’s funny, when I came to this sport, I wanted to win one. That was it. If I won one race, I would have had a successful career. I know that’s going to sound bad, but I haven’t looked at a number; I haven’t looked at who’s on the list around me,” he said.
Busch died in May at age 41. No other driver has more than 49 wins in the series. Carl Edwards is fifth on the list with 38 wins, four more than Allgaier.
Allgaier has hinted at retirement before. Last month, he told Matt Weaver about a dinner in Phoenix before the 2023 championship race.
“I had a bunch of friends and family sitting at the table, and I’m like, ‘Just so y’all know, if I win this championship tomorrow night, I’m gonna mic drop.’ And my wife looked at me with this look. I had never seen that look,” he said.
He did not win the title that year, but he kept racing and won it in 2024. Allgaier recently signed a multiyear deal to stay with JR Motorsports, which Dale Earnhardt Jr. co-owns. Kelley Earnhardt Miller weighed in on the extension this week.
A Second Title Is Within Reach
A second series title is within reach on Saturday.
Allgaier leads the standings by 22 points over defending champion Jesse Love heading into the finale. Corey Day is 23 points back, Carson Kvapil is 31 back and Sheldon Creed is 42 back.
Allgaier finished second at Martinsville behind Kvapil. Love lost his brakes entering Turn 1 and crashed, finishing 30th.
Allgaier won at Homestead in March 2025 after a late caution sent the race to overtime.
The O’Reilly Series finale starts at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday, Nov. 7, on The CW.
