Jose Homecoming Spoiled

Spoiled by what you ask? Well, pretty much everything. Slade was normal bad today. Not as bad as the 7 runs allowed suggests. He was let down gravely by, succintly, a couple very bad Manzardo mistakes in the field.

Cecconi started off the game (his first start in two weeks) with a leadoff homer to Larnach. No matter, the Guardians got the run right back in the bottom of the 1st. Manufactured by whom, you ask?

Shocking, I know. Jose singled on a ball to right, advanced to second on a DeLauter flyout to left (lol), and then scored on this play. Right back into action for him.

In the bottom of the second, the Guardians tacked on two more runs on a Pat Bailey roped single;

And some good old-fashioned bloop ball.

That would prove to be the high watermark of this game, as Cecconi gave up 2 runs in the 3rd and 4 in the 4th. This is how that 4-run 4th happened: Lineout, reach on error (Manzardo) single, RBI single (that happened after Manzardo couldn’t get to a pop-fly down the first-base line), flyout, 3-run homer.

7-3 Twins.

Jose added on a run in the 4th on an RBI groundout to make it 7-4, and the Guardians wouldn’t score again until the 8th. The Twins, meanwhile, scored 3 more runs off a couple more miscues. Roden reached on error, Festa hit Keaschall, walk, 2-run single, flyout, strikeout, Bell 2-out RBI single, single, K. Granted, Dion gave up the Bell RBI single, and 2 of Festa’s 3 runs were unearned.

Manzardo hit a good old-fashioned Chris Paul shot in the 8th to make it 10-5, and then drove in another run in the 9th with an RBI single.

Sabrowski and Aleman pitched well, which I suppose serves as a silver lining to today’s tomfoolery.
