The Denver Broncos are reportedly in hot pursuit of a trade for Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor.
The rumor comes from Zac Stevens of DNVR Broncos, who says the Broncos are “going to try to pull this trade off” because “they want Jonathan Taylor now.”
Stevens adds that a trade “could happen at any moment.”
“I believe the Broncos are going to do everything in their power to trade for Jonathan Taylor. This could happen at any moment. You might not want to go to sleep Broncos Country,” Stevens said.

“The Broncos are going to try to pull this trade off, from my understanding. They want Jonathan Taylor now,” Stevens added.
Stevens isn’t the first reporter to confirm the Broncos are interested in Taylor.
On Saturday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport reported that the Broncos are among the teams to have inquired about Taylor.
“The list of teams that have expressed at least some level of interest in trading for Taylor is thought to include the Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants, sources said,” Rapoport and Schefter wrote.

The Colts were initially hesitant to trade Taylor, per reports, but as the ESPN reporters included in the aforementioned report, Indy’s stance has changed.
Why Broncos need Jonathan Taylor
The Broncos have a solid running backs room with veteran J.K. Dobbins, RJ Harvey and rookie Jonah Coleman, the latter of whom has been coming on strong of late.
However, Harvey is now on injured reserve and Taylor is one of the best running backs in the entire NFL and would amount to a huge upgrade for Denver’s offense.
It makes all the sense in the world for the Broncos to go get the former rushing champion, who would also make quarterback Bo Nix’s life much easier.
How much will Jonathan Taylor cost?
Schefter and Rapoport noted that the Colts are looking for a package of picks similar to the one the San Francisco 49ers sent the Carolina Panthers in the Christian McCaffrey trade in 2022.
That deal saw the Panthers get a second-, third-, fourth- and fifth-round pick for the superstar running back.
We suspect the Colts will end up getting half of that package, and more specifically a second-round pick and a Day 3 selection, but that’s just a guess, of course.

One offer the Colts have received, according to the ESPN reporters, is a second-round pick “addition compensation,” although no further details were given.
Now that the week has turned over after Sunday, a trade involving Taylor could go down at any moment, so make sure to stay tuned.
