Joe Tiller NFF banquet to honor former Purdue football coordinator

WEST LAFAYETTE — For 14 consecutive seasons, Brock Spack was Joe Tiller’s right-hand man.

Now, the spack/2988" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Illinois State head football coach will return to his alma mater as a featured honoree at the June 14 Joe Tiller Chapter of Northwest Indiana National Football Foundation Honors Brunch.

Spack, whose led Illinois State to two Football Championship Subdivision national title game appearances, including last season, returns to his alma mater to take part in the event at Purdue Memorial Union.

Spack is a former Purdue football linebacker who played his senior season under then defensive coordinator Tiller’s tutelage before joining the coaching staff as a graduate assistant the following two seasons. Spack later left Purdue to become Tiller’s defensive coordinator at Wyoming for two seasons before returning to Purdue with Tiller and working alongside him as defensive coordinator for another 12 seasons.

He’ll be recognized at the banquet as the recipient of the Leroy Keyes Impact Award.

Spack’s honor is one of many on the docket for Sunday’s banquet. Tickets are still available at nfftillerchapter.org.

Along with Spack, numerous area high school athletes will be recognized for accomplishments dating back to spring 2025. Former Purdue basketball player Rapheal Davis will receive the Bernie Flowers Citizenship Award and former Purdue football players Seth Morales and George Karlaftis also are scheduled.

Former McCutcheon football star Jason Horn, who went on to play for Michigan, and former South Newton quarterback Eric Watt, who had a record-breaking career at Trine University, will be inducted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame as part of the ceremonies.
