Joao Pedro has committed his long-term future to Chelsea after signing a new contract through to June 2034.

Joao Pedro joined Chelsea from Brighton last year in a deal worth a reported £55m, plus £5m in add-ons.

The original contract he signed ran through to 2032, with the option for a further year, but his new deal ensures he will stay at Stamford Bridge for eight more years.

However, reports suggest this new contract also runs through to 2032, but with the option of two further years, with Chelsea announcing it as an eight-year contract.

Joao Pedro impressed in his debut campaign, winning the Club World Cup last summer, before going on to score 23 goals in all competitions from the start of that tournament.

“I am very happy to sign a new contract with Chelsea,” Joao Pedro said.

Chelsea is delighted to announce that Joao Pedro has signed a new contract until 2034.

“I always dreamed of playing for a big club, and it means a lot to me to give my long-term commitment to this club. Chelsea has a long tradition of winning, and it has big ambitions for the future.

“Everyone is very excited for this season. We know we can achieve a lot of things; we have a great team, and we have a coach who wants to win and has won already.”

Among Premier League players, only Erling Haaland (41) and Igor Thiago (25) scored more goals than Joao Pedro (23) in 2025-26 across all competitions.

The Brazilian, who was left out of Carlo Ancelotti’s World Cup squad, also registered six assists.

Joao Pedro, who was named Chelsea supporters’ Player of the Season and finished as the club’s highest scorer, had been linked with a move to Barcelona this transfer window.
