The New York Jets may not be without running back Breece Hall for long.
Hall is considered “week-to-week” after he left the team’s 31-24 loss to the Detroit Lions early on Sunday with a thigh injury, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Hall underwent an MRI on Monday, which revealed that the injury isn’t as significant as the team initially feared.
Hall’s status for the Jets’ Week 4 matchup with the Chicago Bears on Sunday is still unknown. The “week-to-week” diagnosis, however, makes a return for Hall at Soldier Field feel unlikely at this point.
Hall was running to the outside when he was tackled awkwardly by Lions linebacker Trevor Nowaske early in the fourth quarter at Ford Field. Hall was in pain instantly, and reached for his thigh as he rolled over out of bounds just shy of the end zone.
Hall left the game there, and was quickly ruled out with a thigh injury.
Hall had 32 rushing yards on 13 carries when he went down. The former Iowa State star is up to 163 rushing yards and one touchdown this season, his fifth in the league. Hall ran for more than 1,000 yards for the first time in his career last season. He reached a three-year extension with the Jets in May.
The Jets fell to 1-2 after Sunday’s loss in Detroit. They’ve lost two straight after a convincing 23-10 win over the Tennessee Titans in their season opener.
Though Hall may be sidelined for the near future, it doesn’t appear as if this injury will keep him out long-term. For a team that is trying to make its first playoff appearance since the 2010 season, that is undoubtedly good news.
