The New York Jets made a lot of investments into their offense this past offseason, adding Omar Cooper Jr., Kenyon Sadiq, and signing Breece Hall to a large contract extension while adding Geno Smith as the new quarterback of the team.

Of these moves, the Hall extension was one of the more exciting reports to come out, as keeping him for the long haul is great news for the Jets. He’s a fantastic dual-threat running back, and now he’s locked in for the next few years as the starter.

But, as the mandatory minicamp is getting underway, Brian Costello of The New York Post shared a wild update on Hall’s backup, Braelon Allen. The Jets’ No. 2 RB is coming into minicamp with a wild 250-pound update.

Jets’ Braelon Allen comes into minicamp at 250 pounds

“Brealon Allen, fully recovered from his knee injury, says he is bigger and faster than he has ever been. He is up to 250 pounds,” Costello reports.

This is a wild update on Allen for the 2026 season. Allen isn’t simply bigger and faster; he’s 250 pounds, and somehow, faster than he’s ever been, according to Allen himself.

Hall is 5-foot-11, 217 pounds, and isn’t a small running back by any means. Last year, Allen wasn’t small either.

The Jets’ fourth-round pick in 2024 was 6-foot-1, 235 pounds last season. That’s already a sizeable running back, and now, he’s reportedly added 15 pounds to his frame.

Allen putting on an extra 15 pounds to get to 250 total is a wild update for the Jets’ No. 2 running back. If the Jets felt they needed to find a goal-line back, Allen looks to be the clear option for such a role at this massive size.

To put it in perspective, Derick Henry, one of the largest backs in the NFL, was 6-foot-2, 252 pounds last year for the Baltimore Ravens.

Based on this update, Allen is now at the same weight as Henry was last year. This is a wild update, and it will be fascinating to see any official numbers and how Allen looks in the preseason if he keeps this weight on through the summer.
