Jets' Geno Smith sets social media ablaze with pre-camp workouts

· · 2 min read

A 90-second workout video isn’t going to change anyone’s expectations for the New York Jets. It won’t guarantee a playoff berth. It won’t answer lingering questions about the offense. It certainly won’t tell anyone whether Geno Smith is poised for his best season yet.

That didn’t stop it from generating plenty of excitement.

Smith recently shared a brief workout clip of a workout he enjoyed with Matt Simms on social media, giving Jets fans another glimpse of their veteran quarterback preparing for the 2026 season. The video featured little more than a series of throws and offseason drills, but at this point on the NFL calendar, it didn’t need to be anything more.

Every quarterback looks sharp throwing without defenders. The Jets are no exception. While a workout video shouldn’t be mistaken for evidence of future success, it’s easy to understand why Smith continues to draw attention.

Smith’s return to the Jets is one of the organization’s biggest offseason storylines. The veteran quarterback arrives with the responsibility of helping stabilize an offense that has searched for consistency in recent seasons, making every public appearance and social media post a point of interest for fans eager to see him leading the team.

The clip itself won’t answer questions about timing with his receivers or how the offense will perform once training camp practices begin. Those answers will come soon enough.

Perhaps that’s why a simple workout video generated as much discussion as it did. It wasn’t really about the throws. It was about what the video represented.

For Jets fans, every passing day brings the regular season a little closer. Smith’s latest post served as another reminder that the long offseason is winding down and meaningful football is finally on the horizon.

No one should confuse 90 seconds of offseason training with proof that the Jets are destined for success. But after months without football, sometimes a glimpse of the quarterback getting to work is exactly what fans have been waiting to see.
