Jaylen Brown is now with the Philadelphia 76ers, which was a major Boston Celtics move that people did not expect. That ends his near-decade-long partnership with fellow superstar Jayson Tatum, which had a championship in 2024.

After a few days of silence, Tatum has finally addressed the trade. On his Instagram story, he made sure to single out Brown to pay tribute to the time they had together and their status as one of the best duos in recent basketball history.

Across the NBA during the past decade, people got to know the Celtics as a title contender. The main reason behind that was Brown and Tatum playing elite basketball as a duo. While a lot of people always said that they were not a good partnership, they kept proving the critics wrong.

Some people always made it out that they were incompatible, but they were always one of the best duos in the league. That led to a championship, which is something that critics said was not possible with the two Jays.

Unfortunately, their time together has come to an end with Brown being traded to the 76ers. He exits the Celtics with icon status, as he and Tatum proved the doubters wrong with every single successful run they had throughout the past decade.

“9 years! Forever grateful for all that we accomplished together, for pushing me to be a better player. From first-round exits to winning a chip together, I’m thankful for it all. Nothing but love and respect for you as a player and as a person,” Tatum said to Brown in an Instagram story.

“Looking forward to seeing how you attack this next chapter of your career, and wish nothing but the best for you! Continue to be special!”

Now that Brown is with the 76ers, it will be an interesting matchup between them and the Celtics. They are eternal rivals, so he and Tatum will have regular meetings in the Atlantic Division, which should spark some good storylines quite often.
