Jaylen Brown pushes back at 'seventh-best player' comment with analytics anger

After the social aggregate account “NBA Central” shared a recent Bobby Marks conversation on Sirius XM NBA Radio that suggested one analytics person told him Brown would be the seventh-best player on a team, the Celtics standout railed against analytics and asserted that he’s much, much, much, much better than that wild alleged assertion.

Marks later pushed back by saying that he defended Brown vigorously against the analytics person’s claim.

“What wasn’t posted was the [two minutes] of saying I’m not an analytics person but an eye test guy,” Marks replied to Brown. “That I would want Jaylen Brown on my team. That you impact winning (191-80 in the last 4 years), is a top-10 player and would help any team looking to win a championship. That part of course didn’t make it. But that’s the media in 2026.”

Brown just replied to this response with, “State your source.”

Analytics nowadays used to discredit and control narratives – Roll the ball out none of these guys better than me on both ends who does he work for https://t.co/ql3skXAutM
