Jason Momoa's 12-Part Crime Thriller Officially Finds a New Streaming Home

Before Jason Momoa became one of Hollywood’s biggest action stars, he was actually just a journeyman television actor trying to find his big break. Now, while most audiences remember his early success in Game of Thrones, there’s another television drama from the same period that never quite received the attention it deserved and now, more than a decade after its original premiere, the entire series has found another opportunity to reach audiences.

Momoa’s forgotten crime thriller The Red Road has officially returned to Netflix in the United States, with both seasons joining the platform on November 1. The show, which originally aired on SundanceTV between 2014 and 2015, was created by Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners) and it studies the increasingly dangerous relationship between a small-town police officer and a member of a neighboring Native American community.

The series revolves around a local sheriff struggling to keep his family together while simultaneously policing two clashing communities: the small town where he grew up just outside of New York City, and the neighboring mountains — home of a federally unrecognized Native American tribe. After a terrible tragedy and cover-up further divides these worlds, an uneasy alliance is forged between the officer and a dangerous member of the tribe. As each of the two men find themselves increasingly compromised by the other and the emotional ghosts of their collective pasts begin to emerge, the lives of both quickly unravel, leading to terrible consequences.

Season 2 sees every character face an ordeal: Jean learns of dark family secrets, Kopus battles his conscience, and Harold must decide where his morals lie, but the question is, can any of them find their redemption before it all comes to an end?
