As the New York Knicks‘ best player, Jalen Brunson operates under high expectations. While he was the clutch superstar in Game 1, he did struggle from the field before the fourth quarter.
Much was the same in Game 2 against the San Antonio Spurs, as Brunson was 7-for-25 from the field for 20 points. Karl-Anthony Towns has stepped up as the Knicks‘ best player in the first two games, which is something Brunson can always expect from his teammates.

The Spurs are doing well in their single coverage against Brunson. Players like Stephon Castle and Julian Champagnie have done a wonderful job of preventing them from taking efficient shots.
Knicks head coach Mike Brown has made adjustments to his system, as he is putting his players in the right spots. Due to the intense defense being played against Brunson, other players are getting touches. This includes Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby, who have both been superb.

No single player can carry his team to victory, especially in the NBA Finals. The Knicks are learning that their depth has been the key to their success in this NBA Finals against San Antonio.
“That’s just who they are. That’s who my teammates are, night in and night out. They come and bring it. There’s always something said, regardless of the situation, but I have the utmost trust and faith in them,” Brunson said about his Knicks teammates.
That is the right mindset for a leader. At times, he will have mediocre performances, but he opens the door for his teammates to step up. That has been the key to their success, and they are living up to the hype.
