Jaguars salary cap outlook heading into Week 1 of 2026 regular season

Heading into Week 1 of the 2026 regular season, how much salary cap space do James Gladstone and the Jacksonville Jaguars have to work with in the coming months?

According to Over the Cap, the Jaguars have $3.62 million in available cap space.

Compared to the rest of the NFL, only eight teams have less cap space than the Jaguars. Throughout the offseason, Jacksonville has ranked near the bottom of the NFL in cap space, in part due to the heavy amount of dead cap on the books this season.

So, no, the Jaguars don’t have an abundance of spending power, but at this stage of the season, that’s not necessarily needed either.

That said, the Jaguars did recently restructure Josh Hines-Allen’s contract to create additional cap space. This provided Jacksonville with some additional room to put together their practice squad this past week, and as GM James Gladstone detailed recently, while no roster move is imminent, the Jaguars do have additional flexibility to keep those doors open.

“I think that’s a move to make so that we’re not forced to do anything, should we pursue an avenue,” Gladstone said. “And so we want to make sure that we have the flexibility that we need to keep things on the table as the season progresses.”

In-season cap space is also needed to absorb the additional cap costs that come with elevating players on a weekly basis from the practice squad, along with other potential ancillary expenses.
