I've lived in Palm Springs for nearly a decade. There are 5 mistakes I see tourists make again and again.

• Because temperatures can rise quickly, creating a packed itinerary isn’t a good idea.
• I always tell visitors to rent a car because Palm Springs is pretty spread out.

Sleeping in — especially if you plan on spending time outside — is a big no-no.

Planning to do too much in one day isn’t a good idea.
