It’s Athlete of the Week time as we look to honor some individual league champions and those making volleyball playoff history.
You know the drill. Each week we give you five high school sports phenoms to vote on and you decide which one should be the Athlete of the Week. Whoever has the most votes by 5 p.m. on Saturday will be declared the weekly winner.

Before we get to this week’s honorees let’s look back to last week and see who you chose. You voted and you selected Desert Christian Academy volleyball star Phoebe Thorpe. Thorpe had a huge game in an opening-round volleyball playoff game and still has her team rolling into the Division 9 semifinals.
This week’s winner, as always, is up to you.
Here are this week’s five candidates, listed in alphabetical order.
Keira Cassady, Rancho Mirage golf
What she did: After winning the Desert Empire League title in 2025, Cassady and the Rattlers moved to the Desert Valley League and on Thursday she won the DVL title, by, wait for it, 38 strokes. She shot a two-day total of 1-over par. She then shot a 3-over 77 to finish tied for 21st at the CIF-SS Southern Regional making the cut to compete in the next round.
Sophia Foreman, Palm Desert tennis
What she did: Only a freshman, Foreman rolled to the Desert Empire League tennis title, earning a 6-2, 6-2 win over fellow freshman Charlie Brann of Xavier Prep in the championship match as part of a big day on the court for the Aztecs.
Angel Robinson, Desert Christian Academy volleyball
What she did: Robinson, a sophomore for the Conquerors is an integral part of the team’s postseason run that has so far reached the semifinals in Division 9. In Wednesday’s quarterfinal win, Robinson would not let the ball touch the ground registering a team-best 29 digs in a four-set win.
Audreana Salter, La Quinta volleyball
What she did: The sophomore did a little bit of everything in the Blackhawks quarterfinal win on Tuesday. She was big at the net with nine kills and five blocks, but also earned several points for La Quinta at the service line with four aces.
Lyla Stanley, Rancho Mirage volleyball
What she did: Whenever the Rattlers needed a big play as part of their epic comeback from 0-2 down to win their quarterinal 3-2 over St. Monica Academy, Stanley was there with a kill, a dig, a savvy touch or a momentum-turning hit. The Rattlers are in the volleyball semifinals for the first time and Stanley is a big part of the team’s success.
