‘It’s over’ – NFL fans can’t contain their concerns for Patrick Mahomes in Chiefs training footage

Patrick Mahomes is building up his workload ahead of the 2026 season following his season-ending injury last year.

The two-time Super Bowl winner has returned to action this week during the Kansas City Chiefs’ training camp.

Mahomes tore both his ACL and LCL during the week 15 game against the Los Angeles Chargers last season.

Following successful surgery and rehabilitation, the 30-year-old quarterback is gearing up for his return through 11 v 11 drills in training camp.

There is a lot riding on Mahomes to make a full recovery after the Chiefs ended 2025 with an underwhelming 6-11 record.

However, expectations may have to be lowered after fans have been left slightly concerned after seeing the two-time NFL MVP in action this week.

Mahomes transformed the Chiefs into serial winners, but the 2025 season saw a major fall off from Andy Reid’s team.

Serious pressure is on Mahomes to return at his usual level at some point this season, but fans are already concerned about what standard he will be at whenever he’s deemed fit to play.

‘Is it just me or was Mahomes limping weird at the end?’ said one fan on X.

Having been shocked by the footage of Mahomes in action, another fan replied: ‘Yeah it’s over’.

Despite his injury, Mahomes still ended the season with the sixth-highest QBR in the league, with 22 touchdowns to his name.

Another fan picked up on his possible limp, they said: ‘Why is he hobbling off?’

One Chiefs fan did not enjoy what they saw, they added: ‘Football is back and my Chiefs are already messing with my systolic blood pressure’.

That was a running theme in the comments section, another fan said: ‘Y’all didn’t see him limping off the field…’

The Chiefs offloaded talent on the defensive side of the ball to the Los Angeles Rams, which is only going to add to the pressure on Mahomes to hit the ground running.

Worried about what is to come from the Chiefs this season, one fan was not overly impressed by Mahomes’ opening rep, they said: ‘Well uh that’s ominous’.
