It's official, Liverpool have secured their FOURTH £100m star
Liverpool have spent a lot of money over the last couple of years.
The Reds have spent £100m+ on three occasions. They now have a team full of £100m superstars.
Florian Wirtz was the first, followed by Alexander Isak and then Bradley Barcola arrived this summer.
There’s a sentiment that Liverpool might have overspent. In a market where Rayan Cherki cost £30m, Wirtz for over £100m might not have been the wisest move.
However, ultimately Liverpool paid market value for all of these players. The Reds didn’t overspend because they knew and they trusted their recruitment and they still have faith that they will be proved right in the long-term.
Wirtz, Barcola and Isak have not yet justified their big transfer fees, but in the coming months and years they could easily do so.
Liverpool are building an invincible team
Wirtz, Barcola and Isak are going to be the future faces of this team. But it’s true that their ability to deliver also hinges massively on the team that is being built around them.
Right now that team is far from perfect. There are signs and positive improvements. Jeremy Jacquet is likely going to be a future staple at the back.
Dominik Szoboszlai could become the Reds’ captain in the long-term. And in Trey Nyoni Liverpool also have a phenomenal midfielder who has everything it takes to dictate the tempo and rhythm of the game.
Put all of them together and the only area where Liverpool are really lacking is in the full-back roles and in finding the perfect heir to Fabinho’s throne.
With a proper holding midfielder and a right-back, this Liverpool team could be invincible.
Liverpool’s fourth £100m player revealed
And the reason why Liverpool look so balanced and in such a good place right now is because they don’t just have three £100m players.
They have four.
Rio Ngumoha might not have cost the Reds that much. They got him for practically pennies from Chelsea. However, he is absolutely worth £100m.
The England international made it ‘official’ this week by breaking records set by Lamine Yamal on top of also becoming the second youngest Englishman to debut for the senior national team behind Jude Bellingham.
Given the way the market is at the moment. A winger like Ngumoha comes at a premium price and that price is in excess of £100m.
Thankfully, the Reds didn’t have to spend that much to get him, which is why he might be the best out of the club’s entire quartet of £100m players.
