Marquinhos insisted “it’s never over against Paris Saint-Germain” after their remarkable comeback against Lille on Friday.
PSG were 2-0 down heading into second-half stoppage time, but Vitinha halved the deficit before Marquinhos headed in the equaliser in the 95th minute.
This is only the second time in the last 60 Ligue 1 seasons that a team has avoided defeat despite being two goals down entering injury time, after Nice against Lyon in April 2011 (also 2-2).
However, PSG also found themselves 2-0 down in their league opener against Rennes, before a Ferran Torres brace clinched a point for the European champions.
PSG have avoided defeat after going two goals down in each of their first two Ligue 1 matches of the 2026-27 season, as many times as they did in the previous 17 occasions when they found themselves 2-0 down in the competition.
And captain Marquinhos believes PSG can never be counted out due to their fighting spirit.
“It’s never over against PSG,” said the Brazilian defender.
“The positive point is always the mentality, going for the result when we’re behind is a very good thing for the rest of the season.
“In difficult matches, we dig deep, substitutes bring more energy and we manage to score goals.
“It also shows that we’re not at 100%. We’re aware of that, and we’re going to work to improve as quickly as possible.”

Lille, meanwhile, have not won any of their last four home Ligue 1 matches (D3 L1), their longest such run since November-December 2018 (four).
Davide Ancelotti’s side were set for a statement win, and looked certain to get over the line when a minimum of three minutes of stoppage time was added on.
However, with PSG netting the equaliser in the 95th minute, Lille’s players felt hard done by.
Benjamin Andre told Ligue 1+: “The referees, they come and give us their blah blah before the season.
“I can understand that they can add 30 seconds, but this, the 15 seconds they add on top of that. That last minute, that’s what kills us.”
Full-back Romain Perraud added: “I never talk about refereeing. We’ll see about that later.
“Apparently, there was an extra minute and 15 seconds. But it certainly leaves a bitter taste. We’re not going to argue about it.”
