Mariona Caldentey has urged Arsenal to push for silverware this season as “now has to be our time”.
Caldentey joined the Gunners two years ago from Barcelona, and has made a strong impression in north London after winning the 2024-25 Champions League and the inaugural Women’s Champions Cup in February.
And success has followed the Spaniard throughout her career: Caldentey has won six Spanish league titles, six Copas de la Reina de Futbol, four Champions Leagues, one European Championship and one World Cup.
Caldentey, who has scored 13 goals and provided nine assists in 43 Women’s Super League games, was left frustrated last season despite their Champions Cup win.
Arsenal finished second in the WSL, four points behind eventual champions Manchester City, while their Champions League title defence ended in the semi-finals, where they conceded an 87th-minute winner to Lyon in the second leg.
Following the Gunners’ missed opportunities last season, Caldentey is highly motivated in her pursuit of silverware in 2026-27.

“We need to take the next step and are ready for it. We need to be ambitious, have no fear and believe in ourselves.
“That does not mean we are going to win it – there are other things that we cannot control, but that’s the message.
“We are professional athletes at a big club, and we have to deal with pressure. We accept it, and I think it’s a cool part of the job.”
Renee Slegers’ side face Paris FC and Charlton Athletic in pre-season friendlies later this month before their WSL opener against Brighton on September 6.
