LAWRENCE — Isaiah Marshall continues to look more and more likely of being able to start at quarterback Saturday for Kansas football, at home against UCF.
Marshall, a redshirt sophomore and the team’s regular starter this fall at the position, didn’t play in last week’s game at TCU as he dealt with what coach Lance Leipold would describe as a lower-leg issue. When the Big 12 Conference’s player availability reports started to come out on Wednesday this week, Marshall was listed as questionable — as were redshirt junior quarterbacks Cole Ballard and Chase Jenkins. But like Jenkins, Marshall was listed as probable on Thursday, and on Friday neither of those two were listed at all.

Ballard, of course, does remain questionable for Kansas‘ game against UCF. Ballard stepped in as the starter during last week’s loss against TCU. But having Marshall and Jenkins available would provide KU with a pair of players with starting experience, Marshall from this season with the Jayhawks and Jenkins from his time at Rice earlier in his college career.
Kansas’ game against UCF is set to kick off at 2:45 p.m. (CT) in Lawerence. The Jayhawks (3-5, 1-4 in Big 12) are looking to bounce back this weekend, as they look to continue to position themselves for a bowl game this fall. The Knights (4-4, 2-3) are looking to bounce back themselves, after a loss at home against Baylor.
