Isack Hadjar ruled out of Italian Grand Prix with replacement named

Isack Hadjar‘s ongoing wrist injury has ruled him out of this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix where his Red Bull will again be driven by Liam Lawson.

The Frenchman, in his debut season with the team, sustained the problem during the summer break and missed the first race back in Zandvoort a fortnight ago.

Lawson – who was unceremoniously dumped by Red Bull after just two races last year – finished seventh on his return to the team from Racing Bulls.

A Red Bull statement read: “Liam Lawson will drive alongside Max Verstappen at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, while Isack continues to make encouraging progress following the wrist injury sustained during the summer break.

“The team is closely monitoring his rehabilitation and will take no unnecessary risks with his return to competition and wishes him a speedy recovery.”

Yuki Tsunoda, who was left without a drive for this year following his Red Bull exit at the end of last season, will again sit in for Lawson in the Racing Bull car having finished 11th on his return at Zandvoort.

Hadjar had initially sounded hopeful of making his return at Monza, saying during an appearance at Zandvoort.

He said “It’s my first injury ever in my whole existence, career, whatever. So it’s weird to be on the bench. I’m not happy about it, for me and for the team.

“It’s not swollen, which is a good sign. Actually, it’s healing fast. Every day I have a bit more mobility and I´m hopeful for Monza.”

However, he will now aim to return at the earliest on the following weekend when Madrid’s new Madring circuit makes its debut at the Spanish Grand Prix.
