United States President Donald Trump has blamed the war with Iran for his party’s heavy defeat in the US midterm elections.
Speaking during an interview on Fox News on Tuesday night, Trump admitted that the Iran war and high gas prices hurt Republicans at the polls.
DAILY POST reports that Democrats took over both the Senate and the House of Representatives in a major blue wave.
“Iran was a piece of it,” Trump said when asked if the war caused the loss, adding that people were not willing to pay higher price for gasoline because of the war.
According to the President, he has no regrets about launching the war, noting that he did the right thing and would do it again.
The Republican added that his party members lost because he was not on the ballot.
“I wasn’t on the ballot and if I was, we would have won in a landslide,” he said.
Recall that Democrats won big in conservative states that Trump won in 2024, including Texas, Kansas and South Carolina, ending decades of Republican control.
