  1. Specimen A – Provided as a figure on the question paper.
  2. Specimen B – Cultured housefly larva/maggots.
  3. Specimen C – Centipede.
  4. Specimen D – Rat (Rattus).
  5. Specimen F – Orange fruit.
  6. Specimen G – Pea pod.
  7. Specimen H – Okra fruit.
  8. Specimen I – Banana fruit.
  9. Specimen J – Pineapple.
  10. Specimen K – Maize grain.

Note: Students should be provided with hand lens / magnifying glass.

Q1.

  1. Prepare 0.10 mole dm-3 of HCl as solution A. Make available for each student about 200 cm3 of the solution.
  2. Prepare 0.02 mole dm-3 of Na2CO3.10H2O as solution B. Make available for each student about 125 cm3 of the solution.
  3. Prepare 0.12 mole dm-3 of NaOH as solution C. Make available for each student about 125 cm3 of the solution.
  4. Prepare methyl orange and phenolphthalein indicators for acid-base titrations.

Q2. Each student should be provided with the following sample (about 2 g each) appropriately labeled as indicated:

  • Sample A1 – Aluminium tetraoxosulphate(VI).

Ensure that all necessary test reagents for inorganic qualitative analysis are provided in the laboratory benches.

Q1.

  1. Prepare 0.10 mole dm-3 of HNO3 as solution D. Make available for each student about 200 cm3 of the solution.
  2. Prepare 0.04 mole dm-3 of Na2CO3.10H2O as solution E. Make available for each student about 125 cm3 of the solution.
  3. Prepare 0.08 mole dm-3 of KOH as solution F. Make available for each student about 125 cm3 of the solution.
  4. Prepare methyl orange and phenolphthalein indicators for acid-base titrations.

Q2. Each student should be provided with the following samples (about 2 g each) appropriately labeled as indicated:

  • Sample B1 – Tin(II) chloride.
  • Sample B2 – 2-Hydroxybenzoic acid (Salicylic acid).

Ensure that all necessary test reagents for inorganic and organic qualitative analysis are provided in the laboratory benches.

  1. Triangular glass prism.
  2. Four (4) optical pins and four (4) office pins.
  3. Drawing board and drawing papers (A4 can serve).
