I relocated from New York to Atlanta. Here are 5 things I'm glad I did to make the move easier, and 5 things I regret.

My husband, my dog, and I arrived in Atlanta on a humid June day.

We had spent two days in the car, weeks packing up our life, and months emotionally preparing to leave New York, where we had both lived for nearly a decade.

The actual move was among the most daunting aspects of relocating, since we had to transport all of our belongings nearly 1,000 miles away.

Over a month after that sweaty arrival, we’re mostly settled into our new home, hanging pictures on our walls and finding walking paths in our neighborhood.

Overall, moving was a success, but there were a few things I would’ve done differently.
