Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce reflected on the importance of returning offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.
Bieniemy left the Chiefs after a nine-year tenure (four years as OC) in 2022, winning two Super Bowls with the franchise before stints with the Washington Commanders, UCLA Bruins, and the Chicago Bears.
He returned to the franchise in 2026 and resumed his old position, with Bieniemy’s positive influence already spreading through the team, according to Kelce.

On the latest episode of the ‘New Heights‘ show with Travis and Jason Kelce, Travis opened up on the positive impact that Bieniemy’s return has had on the Chiefs from a mentality perspective.
“Breath of —– fresh air. I think we all know that ‘ol ball coach that will tell you, ‘We gotta run it down this mother—– face. If you say that every day when we put on pads, you start creating a —— mentality and mindset where I have no other option but to run through this mother—– face.”
“You start to incorporate that, and it becomes who you are, so in the fourth quarter of Week 10, when this team has seen this play not only twice this game, but in 10 other games, and they know it’s coming… You’re gonna be ready to run it through this mother—– face. That’s what EB has been unbelievable at.”
The Chiefs’ toughness was clear during Week 1 win over Broncos
Kelce’s words are backed up by the aggressive style of play the Chiefs displayed in their season-opening 31-10 win over the Denver Broncos.
Bieniemy, who spent last season as a running backs coach with the Bears, constructed an offense that rushed for 173 yards through RB Kenneth Walker to demolish the Broncos.
Kelce also had a standout play where he made a 59-yard run with the ball to advance upfield in what led to an eventual Kansas City score.
All the players are exhibiting toughness on the field that the Broncos seemed completely unprepared for in Week 1.
Bieniemy will hope his offense continues to have success, as the Chiefs want to mount a serious challenge for the Super Bowl.
