‘I didn’t even know that’ – LeBron James shocked that Steve Nash’s godson is in the NBA

LeBron James has played against almost everyone, but even he was left completely out of the loop on this NBA lineage.

NBA crossovers are wild, and it’s not just about guys breaking ankles with a sick dribble move on the court. There’s a crazy amount of family bloodlines running through the league if you look at actual relatives.

Fans have seen literal twins like the Lopez brothers and the Morris twins down low for years, plus the Thompson twins running things now.

Then there are shooting duos like Steph and Seth Curry, or the Gasol brothers. It is crazy seeing how many families just have pure basketball greatness in their DNA.

LeBron James finds out that RJ Barrett is Steve Nash’s godson

76ers star LeBron James was recently caught completely off guard upon realizing that NBA star RJ Barrett is the godson of Steve Nash on the Mind The Game podcast.

Steve Nash: “And shout out RJ Barrett, too. My godson. Shout out to my godson.”

LeBron: “Oh, that’s your godson.”

Steve Nash: “Oh You didn’t know that? No. Yeah. Him. His dad and I played for Canada together for years.”

LeBron: “I love that. See, I shout him out. I didn’t even know that.”

Steve Nash: “My closest friends and teammates for many years. So there it is.”

As of October 2026, RJ Barrett is balling out as a key player for the Toronto Raptors. Over the 2025-26 regular season, he put up solid numbers with roughly 19.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game while shooting nearly 49% from the field.
