
Former MLB player Roger Clemens is now set to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the joint-highest civilian award in the United States, and Clemens found out he was being given the honour during a rally in San Antonio, Texas, on October 7.
Donald Trump confirmed the news on stage and then invited Clemens up to speak, at which point he said he was ‘stunned’ and called Trump a ‘winner’.

He said: “Well, I’m stunned, number one and again, 24 years, this supersedes anything I’ve done in my playing career.
“To get it from this man, this president, there wouldn’t be another president I’d want to get it from.
“And announcing it here in my home state and again, from this man, you talking about a winner, that’s a winner right there [points to Trump]. You see it.
“The way he talked about all my stats, he could be my agent, I guess I could come out of retirement again.”

Clemens spent over two decades playing MLB, primarily for the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees.
He was an 11-time All-Star and a two-time World Series champion, winning both championships while playing for the Yankees.
Clemens retired in 2007 after a second spell with the New York outfit.
