Dylan Beavers, who made his major-league debut less than a year ago, delivered his third career walk-off hit with a ninth-inning single to lift Baltimore to a 3-2 win on Saturday night. Gunnar Henderson gave the Orioles a 2-0 lead with a solo homer in the fifth after Christian Encarnacion-Strand’s third-inning single opened the scoring. Brandon Young didn’t figure in the decision after allowing a run on four hits over 6.1 innings.
The Braves tied the game in the eighth inning on a solo homer from Ozzie Albies after getting on the board with an RBI groundout in the sixth. Bryce Elder gave Atlanta a solid start, surrendering two runs, only one earned, and striking out eight over five innings. Three Braves pitchers struck out 14 O’s on the night.
Right-hander Shane Baz (4-9) starts the series finale for the Orioles, entering play with a 4.05 ERA and 1.368 WHIP in 20 starts and 117.2 innings. Atlanta gives the ball to right-hander Reynaldo López (4-3), who compiled a 3.95 ERA and 1.364 WHIP in 66 innings over 23 appearances, including 10 starts. López rejoined the rotation in late June.
