Once verification is completed, the candidate can view the digital certificate and download a copy for personal use. The certificate can also be shared electronically with institutions where it is required.
WAEC has advised candidates to use only its official platforms when accessing their certificates and to keep downloaded copies securely.
The council also has a dedicated Digital Certificate application available through the Google Play Store, providing another option for candidates to retrieve their documents.
It is important for candidates to note that the digital certificate service is different from the WAEC result-checking platform. The result portal is used to view examination results, while the Digital Certificate Platform provides access to the official certificate after the results have been released.
The availability of the certificates follows WAEC’s release of the 2026 WASSCE results for school candidates.
A total of 1,950,726 candidates sat for the examination, while 1,200,514 candidates, representing 61.54 per cent, obtained credits in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
The 2026 WASSCE was conducted between April 21 and June 19, with candidates from more than 24,200 secondary schools participating.
Candidates who have successfully completed the examination and whose certificates are available can therefore use the WAEC Digital Certificate Platform to obtain their documents without relying solely on a physical certificate.
