How Elena Rybakina’s total prize money compares to Aryna Sabalenka’s after winning the US Open

Elena Rybakina is the undisputed best WTA player on the planet.

The Kazakhstani star snatched the world number one ranking from Aryna Sabalenka earlier this week after defeating Qinwen Zheng in the US Open quarter-finals.

Rybakina ended Sabalenka’s hopes of winning a third consecutive US Open title on Saturday, triumphing 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 inside Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The result marked Rybakina’s first US Open title and her third major title overall.

Rybakina also earned $5.5 million for her efforts in New York.

Aryna Sabalenka has already earned the second-most prize money of any WTA singles player.

After reaching the US Open final, Sabalenka has now collected $53,222,999 in total prize money from WTA Tour events.

Only Serena Williams, a 23-time major singles champion, has earned more.

Meanwhile, Elena Rybakina has now received $35,318,052 in WTA tournament earnings.

The $5.5 million Rybakina has gained from this year’s US Open has seen her rise to 11th in the WTA Tour career prize money leaders, leapfrogging Elina Svitolina and Angelique Kerber.

According to statisticians OptaAce, Elena Rybakina has never been defeated at the US Open when she has won the first set.

The 27-year-old has now won 12 consecutive US Open matches after claiming the first set, dating back to her first-ever victory at the event in 2020.

Rybakina defeated Katarina Zavatska in said match, triumphing 6-3, 6-0.

She then lost to American Shelby Rogers in straight sets.

After triumphing in Flushing Meadows, Rybakina will now shift her focus to the Asian Swing.

The 27-year-old is next set to compete at the China Open, which will take place from September 30 to October 11.
