Housewife arrested for allegedly slashing husband’s throat while asleep in Katsina

A 23-year-old housewife has been arrested by the Katsina State Police Command for allegedly attacking her husband with a knife while he was asleep, leaving him with a deep cut to the neck.

The incident occurred in Katsina metropolis and was confirmed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu.

According to the statement, the victim, identified as Jamilu Ibrahim, reported the incident at the Central Market Police Division at about 9:00 a.m., alleging that his wife, Sadiya Lawal, attacked him at around 5:30 a.m. while he was asleep.

Police said the suspect allegedly attempted to slit her husband’s throat with a sharp knife during the attack.

The victim sustained a deep cut to his neck and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Authorities said he is responding to treatment.

Following the report, detectives from the command visited the scene, arrested the suspect, and recovered the knife believed to have been used in the alleged attack.

The police said Sadiya Lawal remains in custody while investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
