New York Red Bulls goalkeeper Ethan Horvath believes his side are hitting form at the right time, but he has urged them to take their momentum into Wednesday’s clash with D.C. United.

The Red Bulls are now just one point off seventh-place Orlando City in the Eastern Conference after thrashing San Diego FC 4-1 at the weekend.

Julian Hall, Devin Padelford, Jorge Ruvalcaba and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting all scored for Michael Bradley’s side, while Horvath also saved a penalty in the first half.

While Horvath praised the performance of his team-mates during that win, he acknowledged they cannot slow down now, with six regular-season games to go.

“We’re coming into form at the right time, and before the game we said we had seven finals, one down,” Horvath said, reflecting on the win against San Diego.

“It was a great performance from the team.”

“We’ll come back in and already be prepared for D.C.

“We’ll probably look back on the stuff we did well, but I think the message is we need to continue the momentum forward, and going into D.C. We have nothing to be afraid of.

“It’s all in our hands and all in our control.”

D.C., on the other hand, were thrashed 4-0 by Inter Miami last time out, after braces from both Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

They are 12th in the East, but only six points off the playoff places ahead of the run-in.

D.C. defender Nono scored twice in a 3-3 draw with the Vancouver Whitecaps last time out, and he impressed in their heavy defeat against Miami.

He recorded a team-high four shots while also creating two chances and winning six of his eight duels.

Hall is NYRB’s top scorer in the league this season, with 11 goals, and he also netted against San Diego in his first game back after representing the United States during the international break.

He recorded a match-high seven shots against San Diego, hitting the target six times, and also created two chances for his team-mates.

The Red Bulls have won three of their previous five MLS games (L2); only the Philadelphia Union (15), Nashville SC (10) and Charlotte FC (10) have won more points over that run.

D.C., meanwhile, are winless in their last four MLS outings (D2 L2) since defeating the Columbus Crew in early September.

However, the last three meetings between D.C. and the Red Bulls have been split evenly, with one win each and one draw.

The draw came earlier in this season, when the points were shared after an eight-goal thriller at Sports Illustrated Stadium.
