Dayot Upamecano is certain his Bayern Munich and France team-mate Michael Olise will not be joining Real Madrid this summer.

Olise enjoyed a phenomenal campaign with Bayern as they won a Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double in 2025-26.

He ended the Bundesliga season with 34 goal involvements (15 goals, 19 assists), a new record for a winger since Opta data collection for the German top flight began in 2004-05.

Only team-mate Harry Kane (41) directly contributed to more Bundesliga goals than Olise, who also scored five goals and provided seven assists in 13 Champions League games.

He had been touted as a potential target for Madrid, whose president Florentino Perez pledged to spend big on a “Galactico” player before winning re-election last month.

However, two weeks ago, Madrid issued a remarkable statement in which they denied making an approach for Olise or holding any interest in the player.

And when Upamecano was asked about Olise’s future in the wake of France’s 1-0 win over Paraguay at the World Cup, the defender said: “He stays here, he stays here!”

Since arriving from Crystal Palace at the start of 2024-25, Olise’s 88 combined goals and assists (42 goals, 46 assists) are the third-most of any player from Europe’s top five leagues, only behind Kane’s 121 and Kylian Mbappe’s 97.

In that same timeframe, Olise is also the only player from Europe’s top five leagues to register 40+ goals and 40+ assists in all competitions.
