Gombe State University, GSU, has secured favourable accreditation status for several academic programmes after the October/November 2025 review by the National Universities Commission, NUC.

The result gives the university full accreditation for the listed courses.

Programmes That Received Full NUC Accreditation

The official communication, signed by the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, confirmed full accreditation for programmes across five faculties.

GSU received full accreditation for the following:

  • Faculty of Arts, Social and Management Sciences: M.Sc. Banking and Finance
  • Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences: Physiology
  • Faculty of Science: Physics and Biochemistry
  • Faculty of Education: Biology Education, Chemistry Education, Geography Education, Mathematics Education and Physics Education
  • Faculty of Law: Bachelor of Laws, LL.B

LL.B Law and Other Programmes

The accreditation result covers courses from postgraduate study, science, medical science, education and law. For many GSU students and applicants, the inclusion of LL.B Law will draw close attention because professional courses often carry extra weight during accreditation checks.

The university recorded a strong outcome.

Vice-Chancellor Congratulates GSU Community

The Vice-Chancellor of Gombe State University, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, congratulated the management, staff, students and all stakeholders who played a part in the accreditation result.

He linked the outcome to the joint effort, hard work and dedication of the university community; that point matters because accreditation work rarely rests on one office alone. Everyone had a role.

What the Accreditation Means for GSU

The successful accreditation of the listed programmes reflects GSU’s work on academic quality, professional standards and education that meets national and global best practices.

Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta also stated that the result strengthens the position of Gombe State University as a centre of academic quality and one of the fast-growing universities within Nigeria’s university system.

Congratulations go to the GSU community.
