GSH stands for George Stanley Halas.
George Halas, also known as “Papa Bear,” was the founder and former owner of the Chicago Bears. He’s also one of the founding fathers of the NFL.

Halas died in 1983. The Bears have worn the initials on the uniform sleeve ever since.
