Superman is no match for the strongest Green Lantern Corps. Although the Emotional Spectrum is technically divided equally between its various colors, the Green Lantern Corps holds a special place in the DC Universe. The Green Lanterns’ presence across the cosmos makes them natural participants in major DC storylines, from planetary conflicts to universe-threatening crises. The Green Lantern Corps also benefits from its close association with Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Guy Gardner, Kyle Rayner, and other prominent heroes who interact regularly with the Justice League.
The Green Lantern Corps enjoy a significant advantage, as their rings channel an emotion that naturally lends itself to heroic perseverance. Their constructs can take virtually any shape their wielders imagine, which gives them tremendous flexibility in combat. However, the Green Lanterns aren’t the most powerful Corps. The Red Lanterns are fueled by rage, the Sinestro Corps exploit their opponents’ deepest anxieties to undermine their resolve, and the White Lanterns wield the power of life itself through their connection to the Life Entity. More recently, the Chrome Lanterns represent the equilibrium of all Emotional Entities and the peaceful coalition of all Lantern colors.
There’s one type of Lantern so powerful that the Man of Steel would be hopeless against them if he ever were to fight them by himself.

The Black Lantern Corps gather supernatural resilience, necromancy, and the abilities of some of the greatest heroes and villains ever to die. During Blackest Night, the Black Rings resurrect the dead as emotionless killing machines that retain their former memories, personalities, and many of their original abilities. Black Lanterns can also regenerate from deadly injuries and harvest the hearts of the living to increase their collective power. The more people they kill, the stronger their forces become, while their attacks against loved ones exploit the emotional bonds that ordinarily give DC’s heroes their greatest motivation.
The Black Lantern Corps’ power battery is built from the Anti-Monitor’s body.
Superman’s sheer might isn’t enough to stop the Black Lanterns. Besides their power, the Black Lanterns can add extremely strong heroes into their ranks as corrupted soldiers, including Justice League members. Their master, Nekron, is the embodiment of death and the commander behind the Black Lantern invasion. To defeat him, the heroes must exploit the connection between him and his herald, Black Hand, ideally while harnessing the power of life itself, which Superman can only wield with the help of the Lanterns.
