Gombe ASUU issues 14-day ultimatum, threatens indefinite strike
The statement was titled, “Permission by the ASUU National Executive Council to Commence a Total, Comprehensive and Indefinite Strike Action.”
The union stated that the branch congress had resolved to embark on the industrial action at the end of the 14-day ultimatum if its demands were not satisfactorily addressed.
It urged members of the university community to take note of the development and understand that academic activities would only be disrupted if the government failed to resolve the issues within the specified period.
The union appealed to the Gombe State Government and other relevant authorities to use the 14-day window to address the outstanding grievances and prevent a fresh disruption of academic activities at the university.
ASUU further urged stakeholders to treat the ultimatum as an opportunity for meaningful engagement and resolution of the issues rather than allow the dispute to escalate into a prolonged industrial action.
