God, not Don Jazzy made me successful – Wande Coal

Nigerian singer, Wande Coal, has argued that the narrative that his former record label boss, Don Jazzy, made him successful is not quite correct.

Wande Coal attributed his success to God, arguing that he partnered with Don Jazzy to achieve success.

Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, Wande Coal insisted that his success cannot be credited to Don Jazzy alone.

“God is the reason for my success. I give all the credits to him because he was the one who brought me out and made me successful.

“Some people say it was Don Jazzy that brought me out but I feel like it was just two talented people working together to achieve success. So, it’s not by one man. It’s God,” he said.

Wande Coal was discovered by Don Jazzy and D’banj in 2006 after performing at a campus event at the University of Lagos attended by the duo. He got signed to their record label Mo’Hits a day after the meeting.

He gained fame after appearing on most tracks on Mo’ Hits’ compilation album Curriculum Vitae in 2007. He solidified his stardom with the release of his debut album, ‘Mushin 2 Mo’Hits’, in 2009.

In 2012, following Don Jazzy and D’banj’s fallout, Wande Coal moved to Jazzy’s new record label, Mavin Records.

He exited Mavin Records in 2013 and launched his music label Black Diamond Entertainment.
