“Given the size of the club... I couldn’t turn down” — Henderson seals Chelsea switch, vows to give “everything every single day”

Jordan Henderson has said he couldn’t turn down the chance to join Chelsea after completing his move to Stamford Bridge.

Henderson has signed for Chelsea on a free transfer after departing Brentford by mutual consent. The 36-year-old was targeted by Xabi Alonso to add experience to the dressing room and arrives with a wealth of credentials at the top level.

Henderson captained Liverpool to the Champions League andPremier League during a 12-year spell at Anfield, and has won 91 caps for England at international level.

This summer, he became the first Englishman to feature at four World Cups and in seven major tournaments.

He has signed a two-year contract and becomes Chelsea’s fifth senior signing of the summer transfer window, following Geovany Quenda, Marco Palestra, Morgan Rogers, and Danny Welbeck.

In his first interview withchelseafc.com, Henderson said the opportunity to sign for Chelsea was too good to turn down.

“Given the size of the club, the manager, who I have great admiration for, and the quality of the players, this was a huge opportunity I couldn’t turn down,’ Henderson said.

“I was also so impressed with how much the ownership want Chelsea to be successful and move in the right direction.

“For me, it’s about giving everything every single day, both on and off the field, to help the players around me and the team as much as possible. I’m very excited to get going.”
