The New York Giants are bringing in veteran DE/OLB Yannick Ngakoue for a workout on Monday, per a report from Jordan Schultz.
Ngakoue, 31, was originally drafted out of Maryland by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the third round (69th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft. He’s a familiar face for Giants head coach John Harbaugh, who coached him in two separate seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. Ngakoue was with the Ravens in both the 2020 and 2024 seasons.
Ngakoue only had 1.5 sacks in 2024 — all of which came with the Ravens, and his full sack was of Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels — and was ultimately waived by both the Ravens and New England Patriots. Ngakoue suffered a season-ending broken ankle in 2023 that required surgery to repair. He sat out the 2025 season to fully recover from the injury, which he felt hampered his performance with the Ravens (and Patriots) in 2024.
Harbaugh likely wants to check in to see Ngakoues’ status after a year off. The veteran is a versatile defender who is both familiar with, and could fit well, in Dennard Wilson’s defense. Ngakoue is listed at 6-foot-2, 245 pounds and has played both outside linebacker and defensive end over the course of his career. He could not only help fill the void left by the loss of Chauncey Golston, but also help keep the Giants’ outside linebacker rotation and spell both Abdul Carter and Kayvon Thibodeaux.
The Giants have resolved to explore every avenue to improve their roster, and Ngakoue’s 71.5 career sacks and 243 career tackles certainly warrant a look.
