And now Tyler Nubin walks off slowly with trainers as well.

Washington is marching following the Giants’ touchdown. The pass rush can’t quite get home and Tyler Nubin is down after a hard hit.

Tyler Nubin down. Got kneed in the head inadvertently while making that tackle

TOUCHDOWN GIANTS Jameis Winston finally finds Isaiah Likely in the back of the endzone for the Giants’ first touchdown of the day. The Giants showing signs of life as the Commanders lead 19-13 with 0:44 remaining in the quarter.

Jameis Winston throws an interception, but it’s wiped out by a defensive pass interference, giving the Giants’ first and goal at the two yard line.

Jermaine Elumunor (calf) is questionable to return.

Injury Update: RT Jermaine Eluemunor (calf) is questionable to return.

— Dan Salomone (@Dan_Salomone) October 11, 2026

Tyrone Tracy comes up huge with a 21-yard catch and run on 4th and 4.

Jermaine Eluemunor is down and seems to be injured.

Looks like trainers are checking his lower left leg https://t.co/s0wFtW86QK

— Dan Duggan (@DDuggan21) October 11, 2026

He’s being helped off the field, putting almost no weight on his left leg.

— Dan Duggan (@DDuggan21) October 11, 2026

Hard to tell what happened. He didn’t get rolled up. He was blocking and it looked like his leg buckled a bit.

— Dan Duggan (@DDuggan21) October 11, 2026

The Commanders know what’s coming when J.J. McCarthy is on the field. There’s no threat of the pass, which makes the run all too easy to defend.

J.J. McCarthy’s fourth snap is a scramble for 2 yards

Right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor is down

— Pat Leonard (@PLeonardNYDN) October 11, 2026

Touchdown #Commanders. Jayden Daniels for the 38-yard score.

The #Giants aren’t going to win this game with field goals. They don’t look capable of scoring TDs with Jameis Winston right now.

Washington leads it, 19-6. There’s 7:47 left in the third.

Big series here coming…

— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) October 11, 2026

Jayden Daniels escapes for a big touchdown run. Washington leads 19-6 with 7:47 remaining in the 3rd quarter. There’s time left for the Giants to overcome the deficit, but they’ll need to do something on offense fast.

Dominic Zvada comes back on for a 56-yard field goal and makes it. is now 2 for 4 on field goals, all of which have been at least 50 yards. The Giants trail 12-6 with 10:54 remaining in the third quarter.

The #Giants bring J.J. McCarthy in on 3rd & 2 — his second snap this possession and third of the game.

He keeps it and is thrown down for no gain.

Zvada coming out for the FG.

— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) October 11, 2026

The Giants remain their own worst enemies.

The Giants get a couple first downs, then fall behind the chains.

Jameis Winston had Malachi Fields open. He was behind the secondary for a TD. Was late over the middle to Likely instead — incomplete.

He’s not seeing the field well to this point. #Giants

— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) October 11, 2026

Jameis Winston is the #Giants QB to start the second half.

— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) October 11, 2026

The Giants get the ball to start the second half down 9. Can they do anything to turn the game around?

I get it.

The conditions suck, but Dan is spot on here.

The #Giants are a bigger team that wants to run the football and they’ve averaged 2.2 yards per carry today.

This rushing attack is inefficient and something must change to spark offense. https://t.co/DUa7hUh20K

— Nick Falato (@nickfalato) October 11, 2026

Zvada misses his second kick of the game, pushing the 57-yard attempt to the left. Washington takes a 12-3 lead into halftime. The Giants will get the ball to start the second half.

Mooney with the catch 10 yards out of bounds in the end zone. #Giants to try 56-yard FG

— Ryan Dunleavy (@rydunleavy) October 11, 2026

Two passes glance off of Malik Nabers’ fingers, the second of which (probably) would have been a touchdown.

The #Giants really need to monitor Andrew Thomas, potentially protect him from himself. He’s struggling to do anything right now.

— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) October 11, 2026

The Giants’ defense does its job and limits Washington to another field goal. Washington leads 12-3 inside of the two-minute warning.

Big for the defense to limit the Commanders to a field goal off the turnover. Offense needs to get something going eventually… https://t.co/9rrAOqxAPj

— Dan Duggan (@DDuggan21) October 11, 2026

The Giants once again run face-first into the Commanders’ defense out of a condensed set, followed by a Jameis Winston sack-fumble. Washington recovers at the 28-yard line.

The Giants bring pressure on 3rd down and force another 3-and-out. Jack Kelly very nearly blocks the ensuing punt.

Ar’Darius Washington replaces (an apparently injured) Tyler Nubin at safety.

Ar’Darius Washington in at safety. Doesn’t appear that Tyler Nubin is injured https://t.co/JqiYQFqFmX

— Dan Duggan (@DDuggan21) October 11, 2026

The Giants have no answers for the Commanders’ Vikings-style blitz attack and are forced to punt again.

Isaiah Likely’s 2nd penalty of the game backs Giants up, and Jameis Winston is sacked to end the drive on 3rd down

— Pat Leonard (@PLeonardNYDN) October 11, 2026

Andrew Thomas is laboring out there. Given up a couple pressures so far. He doesn’t look right watching him move between plays. He’s been dealing with a groin issue. Not sure the weather is helping this afternoon. #Giants

— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) October 11, 2026

Washington is able to move the ball again, but the Giants force a field goal attempt after the pressure once again gets to Jayden Daniels. The Commanders lead 9-3 with 8:57 left in the first half. Can the Giants figure out something on offense before halftime?

Trace Ford is seeing the field for the Giants.

The Giants get on the board with a 51-yard field goal from Dominic Zvada. The offense is able to move the ball, but still can’t get much going on the ground. Washington leads 6-3 with 0:55 left in the first quarter.

Giants running backs have 7 carries for 11 yards so far (1.5 per carry)

— Pat Leonard (@PLeonardNYDN) October 11, 2026

Dru Phillips got home on a third-down blitz to force a second consecutive three and out. pic.twitter.com/FeMIQpMHsI

— Nick Falato (@nickfalato) October 11, 2026

Down goes Daniels as the Giants sack Jayden Daniels again, forcing another 3-and-out. Dru Phillips gets the sack on a blitz as Kayvon Thibodeaux works inside to create the lane for Phillips.

Ford played 1st and 2nd down. Now Abdul Carter is on for 3rd https://t.co/BYxEgdQGiE

— Pat Leonard (@PLeonardNYDN) October 11, 2026

The Giants go 3-and-out as they commit to the run, but can’t find any yardage. They need to find a way to get into rhythm.

Giants respond with their own 3 and out. And the soggy, low-scoring slugfest we all expected is underway

— Pat Leonard (@PLeonardNYDN) October 11, 2026

We’re back to throwing to receivers short of the sticks?

— Patricia Traina (@Patricia_Traina) October 11, 2026

Can the Giants get their offense going on their second possession?

The Giants force a 3-and-out as Tremaine Edmunds and Darius Alexander force Jayden Daniels to throw the ball away on 3rd and long.

Abdul Carter makes his presence known, running Jayden Daniels down for the sack.

Abdul Carter sacked Jayden Daniels. This is the kind of takedown where a QB can brace himself with his left hand. Whether consciously or unconsciously, better for Daniels he didn’t. pic.twitter.com/0i1qztzZVi

— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) October 11, 2026

Abdul Carter sack and maybe a Spiderman celebration for Brian Burns?

— Ryan Dunleavy (@rydunleavy) October 11, 2026

The Giants struggle to find anything like traction on offense, and their opening drive fizzles after Dominic Zvada misses a 50-yard field goal attempt. His first miss as a professional.

Dominic Zvada with his first miss of the season. A 50-yarder pushes wide right. Gonna be a tough kicking day. Weather is miserable. Saw it in pregame.

— Jordan Raanan (@JordanRaanan) October 11, 2026

Darnell Mooney is back in the game, but the Giants are moving backward.

#Giants had a 1st & 10.

It’s now 1st & 20 after a false start & illegal shift.

— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) October 11, 2026

The Giants’ wide receiver depth is already being tested as Darnell Mooney is staying on the ground.

Darnell Mooney is down after a nasty face-mask penalty. Giants slipped JJ McCarthy in for his first snap on that play.

— Dan Duggan (@DDuggan21) October 11, 2026

Jameis Winston picks up a long first down and now it’s McCarthy time.

J.J. McCarthy is in

— Pat Leonard (@PLeonardNYDN) October 11, 2026

Terrible start for the #Giants defense.

33 yard touchdown by Bill, with an all too familiar sight of Tyler Nubin taking a questionable angle and getting left behind by a back.

— Nick Falato (@nickfalato) October 11, 2026

Tyler Nubin had lost his job, but then Jason Pinnock suffered a concussion. Could see Ar’Darius Washington if that first drive was a sign of things to come. That TD wasn’t all on Nubin, as everyone else got locked up on blocks, but last line of D needs to take better angles.

— Dan Duggan (@DDuggan21) October 11, 2026

Washington knifes through the Giants’ defense on their opening drive with big catches by Chig Okonkwo and runs by Bill Crosky-Merritt. Washington leads 6-0 after a missed extra point.

The Giants win the coin toss and will defer to the second half. The Commanders will get the ball to start the game.

Giants’ game captains for today are Deonte Banks, Tremaine Edmunds and Nic Jones. Giants in blue jerseys today

Giants win the toss and defer. Commanders will start with the ball

Weather could be a factor. Showers are expected during the game, with thunderstorms possible later in the day, per the National Weather Service. Winds will be between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts up to 26 mph. Ball security, which has been a major focus for Giants head coach John Harbaugh, will be a major factor. So, too, could the effectiveness of the Giants’ running game.

Washington gets a boost on Sunday with the returns of quarterback Jayden Daniels and wide receiver Terry McLaurin. The Commanders will be missing a trio of safeties — Nick Cross, Percy Butler, and Tyler Owens.
