Georgia’s history with Donald Trump in the stands may concern Bulldogs fans
President Donald Trump will attend No. 2 Georgia’s game at No. 7 Alabama on Oct. 10, he told supporters on Friday night at a midterm campaign rally inside the University of South Alabama’s Mitchell Center in Mobile. The announcement came as he opened the rally, one week after he took in Texas at Tennessee.
“In fact we love it so much I’ll be here again next Saturday to watch a football game between Georgia and Alabama. They say it’s gonna be a good game, I would think so,” Trump said. No arrival time or game-day itinerary has been released.
In Knoxville on Sept. 26, Tennessee sent fans a midweek advisory to arrive significantly earlier than usual and opened Neyland Stadium 30 minutes ahead of its normal schedule. Perimeter security checks moved relatively smoothly, and Air Force One flew over the stadium after his arrival.
Trump’s motorcade reached the stadium as the national anthem was being sung, and the pool report had him leaving with just under eight minutes left in the fourth quarter.
Tuscaloosa went through its own version on Nov. 9, 2019, when Trump and first lady Melania Trump attended Alabama’s game against LSU. His visit contributed to the College GameDay stage being moved from the Walk of Champions to the Quad near Denny Chimes because of security concerns. Alabama lost that night, 46-41, and the Oct. 10 game will be his third trip to Bryant-Denny Stadium.

How Georgia has fared with Trump in the building
Trump has seen Georgia and Alabama play twice, and Alabama won both times. At the national championship game in Atlanta in January 2018, he stood on the field for the national anthem and watched from a private box behind the Alabama sideline.
He left at halftime with Georgia ahead 13-0, and Alabama rallied to win 26-23 in overtime. When the Crimson Tide visited the White House that April, Trump called it “truly a win for the ages.”
On Sept. 28, 2024, as the Republican nominee, he watched from Bryant-Denny as Alabama beat Georgia 41-34. Georgia returns to the same stadium as the higher-ranked team this time, with the same visitor expected in the stands.
The Knoxville trip was the ninth college football game Trump has attended across his two terms and his first since Indiana beat Miami 27-21 for the national title in January. The Tuscaloosa stop comes during a stretch of campaign travel ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm elections, a swing that includes a stop in Ohio on Saturday.
Georgia arrives ranked five spots ahead of the Crimson Tide in the AP poll, and kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
