Georgia Tech RB Justice Haynes is a risk/reward NFL Draft prospect

It will be fascinating to see where Georgia Tech running back Justice Haynes goes in the 2027 NFL Draft. If there are injury concerns with him, and doubts about his ability to contribute in the passing game, he might be a late day three guy.

If he lives up to the high potential that accompanied his graduation from high school, when Rivals ranked him the running back in the nation, then he could be the third or fourth tailback off the boards.

Haynes first played his college ball at Alabama, where he had some impressive stretches. However, his time with the Tide also exposed his issues with both pass pro and being a consistent contributor in the passing game.

Then he transferred to Michigan and quickly became the Big Ten’s leading rusher, through the first seven games of the season. Then he suffered a midseason foot injury, which required surgical repair, and his season ended early.

Now he’s in Atlanta, alongside fellow Georgia native Malachi Hosley, to form what is quite possibly the top running back tandem in the nation. Haynes and Hosley are two of the seven running backs who averaged seven or more yards per carry last season.

There will definitely be an “iron sharpens iron” thing going on in the Tech offensive backfield this season. It’s easy to understand why the term “Running Back U.” was being thrown around a lot, in reference to the Yellow Jackets, at ACC Kickoff this week.

Haynes has said in previous interviews that he looks up to/models his game after/admires several big time backs, including Alvin Kamara, Saquon Barkley, Jahmyr Gibbs, Bijan Robinson, Christian McCaffrey and Derrick Henry.

That perfectly conveys the sky high ambitions that Haynes possesses.
