Georgia destroys Arkansas in CFB 27 sim

The Georgia Bulldogs (2-0) have looked like world-beaters early on, defeating the Tennessee State Tigers 63-3 and the Western Kentucky Tigers 70-20. On Saturday, Sept. 19 at noon ET, they get their first SEC test with a road matchup against the Arkansas Razorbacks.

There isn’t a lot of enthusiam from Arkansas fans in this matchup. Last season, they were at the bottom of the SEC at 2-10, firing head coach and former Georgia offensive line coach Sam Pittman. They are also coming off of a 43-10 blowout loss against the No. 17 Utah Utes. Arkansas fans have felt negatively about this matchup, and Georgia fans are expecting a blowout to continue their run to a potential SEC championship.

Our College Football 27 sim predicted just that. Georgia won 37-3, scoring 30 unanswered points to end it. The first quarter saw just a Gunner Stockton touchdown pass to Nate Frazier from 14 yards out to make it 7-0. Arkansas responded with a field goal at 9:05 in the second quarter to make it 7-3.

That was as close as Arkansas would get. Stockton again fired a touchdown pass, this time to Isiah Canion, to make it 14-3, then Peyton Woodring kicked a field goal to make it 17-3 by halftime. In the third, Nate Frazier scored on a running play from a yard out and Woodring kicked another field goal to make it 27-3. The fourth quarter saw another Peyton Woodring field goal and Stockton’s third touchdown pass of the day, this time to London Humphreys, to reach the final score of 37-3.

Stockton was magnificent in the sim, completing 33 of 38 passes for 302 yards and three touchdowns, although he had an interception as well. He still helped a running game that featured 36 yards on 10 carries from Chauncey Bowens and 72 yards on 10 carries from Nate Frazier. Sacovie White-Helton was Stockton’s favorite target, as he had nine reception for 108 yards, but Stockton threw touchdowns to Isiah Canion, London Humphreys, and Nate Frazier.

Defensively, the pass rush and front seven dominated. They earned 13 tackles for loss, with Raylen Wilson’s three TFLs leading the way. They also sacked Arkansas quarterback KJ Jackson seven times, with Quintavious Johnson earning 1.5 sacks. The Bulldog defense didn’t force any turnovers, but Arkansas had just 167 yards of total offense, so it didn’t matter.

Considering Georgia is favored by 24.5 points to win, that final score would be an overwhelming cover. Fans are hoping that will happen, but they’re expecting for Georgia to at least start 3-0.
